Whats is 1000-Page Reading Challenge?
1000-Page Reading Challenge is a fun reading program designed to cultivate a better and consistent reading habits among our students.
What do student need to do?
Every participating student is required to read grade level books. Once she/he completes a book, teacher will take a quiz test to determine if the student has read the book and understood it. Once a student clears the test, number of pages read will be recorded in the class log. Students will be rewarded for reaching milestones like 300-page, 500-pages etc.
Do parents need to buy books?
No. Parents do not need to books now. Initially students will have following sources of books;
- grade level books already at home.
- books exchanged with the class-fellows.
- books from the school library.
However, parents are encouraged to buy new books if the child;
- wants to read books by any of his / her favorite authors
- wants to read books on a specific topic.
- finds books in school library difficult to read
